Tanzania

Tanzania; an Expert Guide to the country

The Serengeti National Park, The Ngorongoro Crater, Zanzibar, The Mahale Mountains …..to be frank, Tanzania is quite possibly the best of them all.

Home to the Migration for ten months of the year (although a connoisseur would argue that the Serengeti hosts 30% of the migration all year) the Serengeti is the best National Park in Africa; there is no competition. In fact, take the Migration out of the Serengeti and it still is! Include a few days here with a couple in the worlds largest volcanic Crater, The Ngorongoro Crater and you have the safari itinerary that should be done by someone who visits Africa only once.

For those of us looking for a more off the beaten track safari, away from the crowds Tanzania’s Southern parks Ruaha and Selous offer great walking and boating trips. The Western parks of Katavi and The Mahale Mountains offer some of the most remote safari experiences in Africa. And then there is Zanzibar and some of Africa’s finest beaches.

In short, Tanzania has it all.

Tanzania’s Highlights

The Serengeti National Park.

The finest Game Park in Africa, home to the Great Migration and the largest volume of predators in Africa. Enough said.

The Ngorongoro Crater

An extinct volcano with 600 metre high walls sheltering the highest density of game and predators in Africa. It is staggeringly beautiful and a place to be visited by everyone once in their life. Yes its busy with tourists….but its an extinct volcano with incredible game!!!!

Ruaha National Park

Hidden away in the heart of the country Ruaha is something very special indeed. Appealing to images of an archetypal African land Ruaha has a massive population of big game with vast numbers of elephant and a superb concentration of predators. The scenery is spectacular.

Mahale Mountains National Park

Seemingly miles from anywhere The Mahale Mountains is Tanzania’s most remote park nestling on the side of Lake Tanganika, the worlds second deepest fresh water lake. Home to the largest concentration of wild chimpanzees and an environment that is similar to Hawaii’s mountains, The Mahale Mountains is remarkable.

Zanzibar

Miles and miles of superb beach, great diving and large diversity of hotels and lodges make Zanzibar the perfect place to relax after a safari.
