Zambia; an Expert Guide to the country
Regarded by safari connoisseurs as the best game viewing country on the continent Zambia is Home to Africa’s finest walking safaris and widely recognised as having the best guides on the continent. Zambia is loved by visitors who have been to other Big Game destinations and now want solitude and walking whilst on safari.
Although the volume of game does not come close to the plains of East Africa, the diversity is superb and the land is truly beautiful. Victoria Falls lies on Zambia’s Southern border making it an easy combination with the safari parks.
The Lower Zambezi, one of Africa’s most beautiful parks offers an incredible diversity of attractions with game drives and day and at night, tiger fish fishing, walking and boating safaris available. The Luangwa Valley (or 'the leopard capital of Africa', as it should be known) plays host to Africa’s finest bushcamps and a superb concentration of predators. Then there is Kafue , a staggeringly untouched reserve the size of Wales, home to the Kafue and the widest variety of antelope species on the planet.
South Luangwa National Park
Home to the best walking safaris in Africa and very low tourist numbers South Luangwa is a vast river valley that hosts great game. Famed for its walking, concentration of leopard and subsequent impressive night safaris make South Luangwa Zambia’s prime attraction
The Busanga Plains, Kafue
Accessible for only 6 months of the year due to water levels, the Kafue in Zambia’s Kafue National is one of Africa’s last untouched big game locations. This is a safari connoisseurs Eden!
Lower Zambezi National Park
When your plane flies over the escarpment to reveal a strip of land effectively cut off by the Zambezi, you cannot help but be in awe; this is a truly beautiful park. This park is an absolute must for any safari enthusiast….or in fact for someone who has never been to Africa before!
Victoria Falls
Mosi-oa-Tunya meaning the 'smoke that thunders' is the worlds largest curtain of falling water. At 1.7km in width and between 90 and 107 metres in height, Victoria Falls truly deserves its place as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world
Our Overall View
Ultimately Zambia is what safari is all about. The guiding is as good as anywhere, the walking safari is superb and night safari is permitted in all parks. It is a connoisseurs paradise and for this reason anyone should appreciate its beauty. However, there have been times when weve been on safari in Zambia that weve met clients who have been disappointed with the volume of game they have seen. The reality is that it does not stack up volume wise to the documentaries we have all seen and loved; if clients expect this then they will be let down. Zambia is subtle and sophisticated, appreciated by someone whose already been spoilt by sheer numbers. August and September however is a time of year that will impress anyone as game is copious throughout.
